Thanks to Mick O'Brien for his review of Roger's performance at the
Tollwoood Festival in Munich
16 friends from Germany, all over Europe and the USA descended on Tollwood to see our hero perform his now familiar set of our favourite songs and what a great night we all had. We have met through our friend Kathy's website http://www.rogersgardengate.com where we meet weekly on Sundays and we have become firm friends through our common love of the music of Roger Hodgson both online and now having met several times in person.
As it was a free seated show we all got separated because some of us were not fast enough to get seats near the front and I ended up at the back of the hall which in fact turned out to be a blessing because it meant I could sing and dance the night away to my hearts content without disturbing anyone or getting in anyones way...
..and my friends who had front row seats did not have the same luxury as security was tight at the front. Take the long way home opened the show and a little mention of appreciation from Roger to those of us who had travelled a long way to be there of which I was one. Give a Little Bit came next, the beautifully melodic Lovers in the Wind and one of my all time favourites Hide in your Shell followed. I danced for the full 7 minutes of Child of Vision an amazing song and then it was time to play the hits ...the crowd pleasers ..The Logical Song, Breakfast in America and of course the one that gets us ALL up dancing ..Dreamer...
It was my cue to go from back to front which I did and continued to dance along with my friends arm in arm and shoulder against shoulder. Fools Overture ended the main set before a rousing encore the magical School and finally the excellent Its Raining Again left us all sad that a fantastic night had to come to an end. We left the hall late into the night and celebrated our annual reunion with a few beers and chat about ourselves, our lives and of course the music and magic of Roger. We talked way into the night of what is, was and always will be a memory to be cherished by us all. Thank YOU Roger
